i decided to start wandering in 'google maps'

my initial plan was to go on 'street view', but in the location i landed on, this option simply wasn't available to explore

it's an island nation - kiribati republic, located in the pacific ocean

from a brief 'wikipedia' scan, this republic has around 119 000 inhabitants, a couple of airports, schools, and churches, and is in a serious threat of drowning due to global warming
in the beginning, it was hard to figure out what detail to focus on since there seemingly isn't much going on

one of the first things i noticed were the interesting location names within the kiritimati island, so i gathered the stand-outs:
later i realised how beautiful the island is and started screenshotting its surface from the satellite view for some natural textures:
i've always found it fun to look for people on 'google street view', but in this case the only way to do that was through the few available 360° shots made by people who, i'm guessing, weren't working for 'google'
i also collected the pictures of the authors
kiribati
napari
kiribati is a part of the 'line islands' group, so i decided to move on to the next nearest one -
i started exploring by using the already familiar concept of collecting texture screenshots of the island:
then i collected one of the only tourist/traveler/local taken pictures available that showed what the island looked like in certain places:
